Rep. Good: The United States Stands with Israel

March 4, 2024
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Bob Good (VA-05) is introducing the Stand with Israel Resolution to express strong support for America’s close friend and important ally. This resolution denounces calls for a ceasefire in Gaza, and for the establishment of an independent state of Palestine. It also demands an end to U.S. funding for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) and the termination of U.S. assistance to Palestinian entities, government officials, relief agencies, and NGOs until an independent and comprehensive investigation is completed.

“Instead of unequivocally backing our most important ally in the Middle East, President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have undermined Israel’s efforts to defend itself by repeatedly suggesting there should be a ceasefire in Gaza,” said Good. “The United States must continue to support Israel as they defend themselves from the Hamas terrorists who have brutally attacked their citizens, including women, children, and the elderly. In the absence of leadership from the White House, I am proud to be joined by my colleagues in the House who stand with Israel.”

Rep. Good’s ALERT Act Passes Oversight Committee, Promises Transparency in Regulatory Process

February 7, 2024
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The House Committee on Oversight and Accountability passed Rep. Good’s All Economic Regulations are Transparent (ALERT) Act by a vote of 21 to 19. This legislation would help rein in the federal government and provide much-needed transparency over the Biden Administration.

“As the American people are feeling the harmful impacts of Bidenflation and regulatory overreach, Congress should reclaim our Constitutional responsibilities and stop effectively granting unelected bureaucrats broad legislative powers,” said Congressman Good. “My legislation would shine a light on the federal agencies spread throughout Washington which continue to pile new regulations on hardworking Americans. I am pleased that my ALERT Act passed the Oversight Committee and I hope that House leadership will quickly bring it to the floor for a vote.”

Rep. Good Calls for a Congressional Review of the Naming Commission

January 31, 2024
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Bob Good (VA-05) sent two letters demanding accountability and transparency from recent efforts by the now-completed Naming Commission. The Commission undertook a mission to remove historic memorials and rewrite our nation’s history which included the removal of Arlington National Cemetery’s “Reconciliation Monument.”

“Congress should conduct a thorough review to determine the true nature of the efforts to remove historic statues and memorials,” said Good. “Historical sites are meant to preserve moments that are critical to the growth and healing of our nation and should not be subject to the destructive ruse of political wokeness. I am calling for a full accounting of the actions taken by the Naming Commission so the American people can see for themselves how the Biden Administration used their tax dollars, and if they did so to arbitrarily erase our history.”

In a letter to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, Good expressed concern over the removal of the Reconciliation Monument and other actions taken by the Naming Commission. Good requested all documents, meeting records, and communications related to the operations and deliberations of the Naming Commission to ensure proper transparency for the American people.

Rep. Good’s Bill Paves the Way for Wintergreen Emergency Road

January 12, 2024
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congressman Bob Good (VA-05) introduced the Blue Ridge Fire Safety Act, a bill that clarifies that the Secretary of the Interior, acting through the National Park Service (NPS), has the authority to grant a permit for the construction of an emergency road on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

“The Blue Ridge Fire Safety Act addresses a critical need for the Wintergreen community to establish an emergency exit road,” said Good. “For too long, the Park Service has prevented this community from taking necessary measures to ensure the safety of its residents. I stand with Wintergreen to be proactive so they can try to avoid the severest of consequences from disasters like the ones our nation has seen in recent years. Bureaucratic incompetence must never compromise the safety of Americans.”
